Future Stars Series staff offers decades of experience at both the collegiate and professional levels. Evaluators and instructors have played, coached, and scouted at the highest levels of baseball and have been directly involved in players moving forward collegiately, professionally, and on to the Major Leagues.All evaluations are performed with the goal of improving the player’s self-awareness and ability to maximize his tools and achieve his goals.
While college scholarships and professional careers cannot be guaranteed, our system has helped many players across the country accomplish these feats. Additionally, the Future Stars Series staff has developed a strong network across all levels that, if applicable, can be accessed to help local players.
FUTURE STARS SERIES EXECUTIVE STAFF
Jeremy Booth is the Founder and President of Program15 Sports and the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series, the global initiative of New Balance Baseball and one of the most influential scouting, player identification, and player development platforms in the game today. With nearly three decades in professional baseball as a player, scout, coach, executive, and baseball analyst, Booth has established himself as one of the sport’s most respected evaluators and innovators.
Under Booth’s leadership, the Future Stars Series has helped generate nearly $600 million in signing bonuses while producing hundreds of MLB draft selections and college scholarship recipients. The organization has consistently featured approximately 35 to 40 percent of Major League Baseball Combine participants and nearly 20 percent of the MLB Draft annually, solidifying its reputation as one of baseball’s premier talent identification and development ecosystems.
Booth’s background spans professional playing, coaching, scouting, player development, media, and front office leadership. Over the course of his career, he has consulted within the scouting and player development departments of Major League organizations including the Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, and Seattle Mariners, earning a reputation for elite role forecasting, player projection, and talent evaluation.
Known for blending traditional scouting with progressive technology, Booth has become a leading voice in integrating biomechanics, athletic testing, artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and performance science into baseball development systems. Through partnerships involving SmartPark, Hawkeye, Senaptec, Synergy, Infinite Sky AI, and other cutting-edge technologies, Booth has helped position the Future Stars Series at the forefront of modern player evaluation worldwide.
In addition to his baseball operations work, Booth serves as a baseball analyst for KHOU 11 CBS in Houston and ESPN 97.5 and is the co-host of the Extra Bases Podcast. He has covered MLB postseasons, World Series, All-Star Games, Winter Meetings, and the MLB Draft while becoming a nationally recognized media figure across television, radio, podcasts, and digital platforms.
Booth is also the author of the Amazon bestselling book, “Inside the Mind of a Scout,” a behind-the-scenes look into scouting, leadership, player projection, and the realities of professional baseball evaluation.
Widely recognized for his intensity, authenticity, and relentless pursuit of innovation, Booth continues to expand the Future Stars Series globally while building one of the most comprehensive and connected baseball ecosystems in the sport.

Jason Stein
Director of Hitting
- In professional baseball Stein was fortunate to spend 19 total years in the game. With parts of 11 years at the Major League level as a Hitting Coach and Major League staff assistant. Two seasons, 2014-15 with the Texas Rangers, and nine seasons 2005-13 with the Cleveland Indians.
- He spent an instructional league and spring training with the SD Padres as well. In that time Stein worked one on one with hundreds of professional baseball players including Major League All-Stars Shin-Soo Choo, Michael Brantley, Jason Kipnis, Francisco Lindor, and Elvis Andrus. Beyond that, Stein as a young coach was mentored by a who’s-who of the Baseball world. From current Toronto Blue Jays President Mark Shapiro to Pittsburgh Pirates Manager Derek Shelton, Boston Red Sox Hitting Coach Luis Ortiz, and MLB hitting coach Dave Magadan, to just name a few.
- Stein is also a graduate of the Major League Baseball Scouting Bureau.
Josh Zeid
Director of Pitching
- Former Major League pitcher with the Houston Astros and star for Team Israel, where he earned All-WBC honors in 2017 and also competed in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
- Pitched collegiately at Vanderbilt and Tulane.
- Drafted in 2009 to the Philadelphia Phillies. Played for the Houston Astros in 2013 and 2014, and professionally with the Angels, Tigers, Cardinals, Mets, retiring after the 2017 season. Finished with 339 games pitched, 46 wins and 663 strikeouts across all levels.
- Since 2017, He spent 5 years as the Rehab Pitching Coordinator with the Chicago Cubs, 2 seasons as the Pitching Coach at San Jacinto College in Houston and is the Director of Pitching for Team Israel.
- He has two sons, Parker and Barrett.
Kory Koehler
College Coordinator
- A former San Jacinto College catcher (1999-2000), Kory Koehler is now entering his 25th season as an Assistant Coach at San Jacinto College. In 2019, Koehler received the American Coaches Association National Assistant Coach of the Year— the first to win this award in junior college baseball.
- Beyond the baseball team, Koehler is the physical education lead faculty on the North Campus at San Jac. He and his wife, Erika, have two sons, Keaton Jax and Kason Jett.

Jeff Edwards
Scout - Midwest
Jeff Edwards brings over 25 years of full-time professional scouting experience, along with a 12-year coaching career that included three NCAA Division I Regional appearances and a high school state semifinal team. Throughout his coaching tenure, he has worked with and developed 37 players who were selected in the MLB Draft. In his scouting career, Edwards has signed and recommended numerous players, including 11 who have reached the Major Leagues.
Pat Murphy
Special Assignment Scout - Midwest
Pat Murphy has built a distinguished career in professional baseball scouting and operations. From 2005 to 2022, he served as an Area Scout for the Tampa Bay Rays, overseeing amateur coverage across the entire state of Texas while also handling professional assignments ranging from Rookie League to Major League coverage. He evaluated talent at many of the premier showcase events across the United States and was elected to the Texas Scouts Hall of Fame in 2015 in recognition of his contributions to the profession.
Prior to his time with the Rays, Murphy spent 15 years with the Houston Astros in a variety of roles, including Computer Operations Manager, Baseball Operations Assistant, Assistant Director of Scouting, and Area Scout. During this time, he played a key role in developing and maintaining scouting and player development systems, managed extensive coverage throughout Texas, and cross-checked high-profile amateur talent. He also gained significant international experience, traveling extensively throughout Latin America—particularly Venezuela and the Dominican Republic—and completing winter ball assignments in Puerto Rico.
Throughout his career, Murphy has signed and recommended numerous players, including 16 who reached the Major Leagues. Since 2022, he currently serves as a Special Assignment Scout with the New Balance Future Stars Series and was named Scouting Director in 2024.
Travis Coleman
Director of international Scouting
Travis Coleman is a veteran baseball evaluator and operations professional with extensive experience in scouting, player development, and event execution at both the professional and amateur levels. A former scout with the Atlanta Braves and Houston Astros organizations, Coleman has built a reputation throughout baseball for his work ethic, baseball acumen, organizational ability, and deep understanding of player evaluation and development systems.
With years of experience across professional baseball operations, Coleman has worked closely with players, coaches, scouts, and front office personnel while developing a strong background in talent identification, roster construction, event management, and baseball logistics. His ability to blend traditional scouting instincts with modern player evaluation methods has made him a respected presence throughout the industry.
Coleman currently serves in a scouting role with the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series, helping oversee player evaluation, national and international event coverage, scouting communication, and overall talent identification efforts within one of baseball's most expansive scouting and player development ecosystems.
Known for his reliability, professionalism, and tireless commitment to the game, Coleman continues to be an important figure in the growth and expansion of the Future Stars Series while helping connect players with opportunities at the collegiate and professional levels.
Butch Baccala
Special Assignment Scout -- West Coast
He began his professional baseball career as a NorCal Area Scout with the Seattle Mariners (1987–1988) and briefly served as Pitching Coach for the Bellingham Mariners in 1988. In 1989, he was Head Coach at Casa Grande High School before transitioning back into scouting as the Northwest Supervisor for the Atlanta Braves in 1990. He advanced to West Cross Checker with the Braves in 1994, followed by a long tenure with the Cincinnati Reds, where he served in multiple roles including Special Assignment Scout (1999), West Coast Cross Checker (2000–2003), National Crosschecker (2004–2008), and Major League Scout (2009). He later returned to the Seattle Mariners as West Coast Cross Checker (2009–2013) and National Cross Checker (2013–2014). In 2017, he served as Vice President of Scouting for Program 15 Sports / New Balance Future Stars Series, and from 2018–2019, he was the National Director of Scouting for Prospect Wire. Since 2019, he has served as President and Owner of Athlete911 Baseball.
Ron Marigny
Special Assignment Scout
Ron Marigny is a veteran Major League Baseball scout and former standout player with over 30 years of experience in the game. A New Orleans native, Marigny was first drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in 1983. He chose instead to attend Tulane University, where he became the first freshman All-American in program history. In 1986, the Detroit Tigers selected him in the 8th round. He played five and a half professional seasons, reaching the Double-A level.
Marigny transitioned to scouting in 1993 with the Los Angeles Angels. He later spent five years as the Midwest Regional Supervisor for the Oakland A's before joining the Atlanta Braves, where he held elite roles including Major League Pro Scout, National Cross-Checker, and Southeast Regional Supervisor. With 31 total years in scouting, Marigny is recognized as one of the industry's most seasoned and respected talent evaluators.
Vance Vizcaino
International and Domestic Scouting
Vance Vizcaino brings a wealth of professional baseball experience to the Future Stars Series as a former player, scout, and mentor. A standout at Stetson University, Vizcaino was a conference champion in 2016, earned All-Tournament Team honors, was named A-Sun First Team All-Conference in 2015, and received Stetson's 2016 MVP and Offensive Player of the Year awards.
Following college, Vizcaino played professionally in the Kansas City Royals, Colorado Rockies, and Chicago Cubs organizations, reaching the Triple-A level. After retiring, he transitioned into scouting with the Royals' amateur scouting department from 2022 to 2025. Now joining the Future Stars Series, Vizcaino is passionate about giving back to young players through exposure, development, and guidance.
Darin Vaughan
Scout
Darin Vaughan brings more than 10 years of coaching experience across every level of baseball, including NCAA Division I, Division II, junior college, and high school. As an assistant coach at the University of Central Missouri, he helped lead the program to two third-place finishes in the NCAA Division II College World Series.
In addition to his coaching background, Darin has completed 15 drafts as an amateur scout with the Toronto Blue Jays, Texas Rangers, and Atlanta Braves—signing notable players such as A.J. Minter, National League All-Star Bryce Elder, and Shea Langeliers. He has also served on the on-field staff for multiple Future Stars Series events.
