Event Recap: Future Stars Series And Georgia Bombers Produce Wildly Successful Scout Day

January 17, 2022

A little cold weather wasn’t enough to stop a huge turnout at the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series most recent Scout Day event, held at the beautiful Georgia Bombers facility in Alpharetta this past Saturday.

The powerhouse partner program split the day into two groups, with the older players taking the late morning-early afternoon session, and the younger players comprised of mostly 2025 and 2026 grad classes getting the mid-afternoon timeslot.

Only the 60-yard dash was held outside, with the remaining athletic testing — pro agility drills, the triple jump and broad jump — held inside the facility.  The top performances from that part of the day are listed below:

Kyle Henley nearly completed the sweep, leading the way in everything but the pro agility drill, edged out by just a hundredth of a second.

The day featured appearances by many players that familiar to those who only follow the biggest FSS events, with Main Event pitchers Luke McNeillie and Brett Barfield being among the standout pitchers on the day.

Arguably the biggest buzz, however, was created by 17-year-old RHP Francesco Capocci, who dazzled on the bump and set a personal best by popping both 96’s and 97’s on the gun.

The North Carolina commit spoke to the Future Stars Series not long after his outing, saying: “I’m ecstatic.  I love being around here, love spending time (at the facility).  I like the Future Stars events, they’re awesome.”
