The New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series is proud to announce the first events as part of the new Future Stars Series PRO initiative, a series of independent player tryout and evaluation camps across the country starting in mid-April.
Eight two-day events are scheduled now, with the possibility of more being added based on demand and interest. With registrations having already begun, many locations are filling quickly, and once these are full, there’s no room to add so that all players can be properly evaluated.
A staff with plenty of experience in professional baseball, including indy ball, will be on hand. FSS president and CEO Jeremy Booth, who played and coached at the pro level for many years, will assist with player procurement.
“For a while, this has been a hot topic of discussion,” Booth said. “The game has changed as it relates to opportunities to play directly for a major league organization and independent baseball has taken a large step to the front as the bridge between having a career and not. I spent a ton of time in Independent Leagues, as did many others on staff here with the Series. It changed all of our lives and allowed us all to move on in it both on the field and off. I’m thankful for it, it’s a valued and very large part of the landscape, and I am excited to be able to help players and clubs both.”
Social media with experience covering professional and independent baseball will be on-site to assist with player exposure; players will receive all their Trackman data and an MLB-level scouting report from former big-league scouts as well as an FSS workout shirt. Reports and data will be turned over for each event to each club in partnership with each event, and teams from the Pioneer League, Mavericks League, Frontier League, and American Association are already on board as they look to add to their rosters both before the start of their season and during it as they lose players to affiliated baseball.
All decisions on signing players to contracts come at the sole discretion of the individual clubs.
