Since its inception in the fall of 2016 as a grassroots initiative between New Balance Baseball and PROGRAM 15, the Future Stars Series has emerged as the gold standard for player identification and development events in the amateur baseball world.
Drawing the support of Major League executives, professional scouts, colleges and universities, and player development clubs across the country, the organization has put a spotlight on over 70 MLB Draft Picks and International Signings, along with hundreds of college-committed players who have participated in Future Stars Series events.
Continuing their unwavering commitment to change the game of baseball and reach as many undiscovered players as possible, Jeremy Booth, CEO and President of the Future Stars Series announces the dates and locations for the 2022 New Balance Future Stars Series Signature Events.
Squarely focused on spotlighting the abilities of top amateur players from around the world, the following Future Stars Series Signature Events provide an opportunity for players to experience the game of baseball on the big stage in front of college recruiters and prominent Major League scouts.
Underclass Elite – 9/16-18 – Frisco, TX – Riders Field
The second annual edition of this signature 3-game event will feature the top 50 rising juniors and sophomores selected from the Future Stars Series Underclass Combines and will be held at Riders Field, home of the Texas Rangers Double-A affiliate Frisco RoughRiders.
Booth said, “The Riders family has embraced and welcomed us into their facility and circle. I’m excited for players to experience that love and bring a signature event back into the state of Texas in such a great town.”
Main Event – 9/23-25 – Boston, MA – Fenway Park
The sixth annual signature event returns to Fenway Park, home to the Boston Red Sox and the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball. Since 1912 Fenway has hosted 11 World Series and the 2019 and 2020 Future Stars Series Main Events. This invitation-only 3-game series features the best and brightest high school players from around the country who have been identified by Future Stars Series National Scouting Staff through the National Combine and Partner Scout Days.
Booth said, “We’re back in Boston at a very familiar ballpark in a very familiar city. Memories have been made here for all of us in the Series, and it’s very nice to be welcomed back at Fenway after a year away. It’s a special place for anyone who’s been there, and it’s an experience that won’t be forgotten. With that, I want to personally thank the Mets front office and organization for an exceptional and warm reception for hosting the Future Stars Series Main Event at Citifield in 2021. Marc Tramuta, Tommy Tanous, Brian Glynn, and Matthew Cowan went above and beyond to make us feel at home. They are the epitome of class, and we are indebted to them for their treatment and care. We look forward to more opportunities with them for Future Stars Series events. “
Fresh 50 – 10/7-9 – Tucson, AZ – University of Arizona
In its inaugural year, this signature event will be held at Hi Corbett Field, the former spring training home of the Colorado Rockies and Cleveland Indians and current home to the University of Arizona Wildcats of the Pac-12 Conference. The 3-game series will feature 50 rising freshmen and sophomores selected from the Underclass Combines.
Booth said, “I’ve known Trip Couch since he stole – I mean signed Paul Goldschmidt. As a young scout in the area, he made sure to check on me from time to time. He even walked up to me at a game and said, ‘I’ll help the new guy.’ He’s a good person, and they are a first-class program. There are a lot of really good pro-people getting involved in the college game, and being on this campus with a group of players who’ve earned the right to be there is going to be special. We look forward to seeing many college coaches for this event in a setting that’s as pretty as they come.”
Caribbean Classic – 10/13-16 – Cabo San Lucas, MX
This first annual International signature event will be held in tandem with the Future Stars Series World Combine and feature elite players selected by Future Stars Series International Scouting Staff. Countries expected to be represented include the U.S., Dominican Republic, Columbia, Venezuela, Bahamas, Panama, Curacao, Aruba, and Mexico, with the possibility of players from Europe and Asia if health protocols and schedule permit.
Booth said, “The Caribbean Classic is the next step in the global initiative. This event is very special to all of us at the series. Pairing it with the World Combine, we’re able to see all the advanced testing through Pelotero and other data partners, and advance player thinking as the game evolves with what’s expected of them. It’s going to be an excellent cross-section of players, and taking a USA delegation will be a special experience for all who attend. This type of event is always very exciting, and we can’t wait to get to Cabo.”
Players participating in Future Stars Series Events will compete in a 3-game series and receive custom uniforms, apparel, and specially designed limited-edition footwear from New Balance, bats and gloves from Marucci, G-Form protective wear, and Franklin batting gloves.
All events will be broadcast globally. Additional information on viewing games will be available once broadcast partners are confirmed.
