The Chicago Cubs are banking on a healthy return for New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series alumni Will Frisch after taking him with the 173rd overall pick in the 2022 MLB Draft.
A travel ball teammate of first rounder Drew Gilbert with the Minnesota Blizzard, Frisch was one of the standouts, along with Gilbert, of the inaugural 2017 Future Stars Series 2019 class National Tournament, and ultimately earned an invite as a member of the National Team at International Week in Glendale one year later.

PICK ANALYSIS BY JEREMY BOOTH, CEO AND PRESIDENT OF THE NEW BALANCE BASEBALL FUTURE STARS SERIES: He’s electric. I’ve liked Will forever. One of the more reserved players in the draft, he couldn’t be more opposite than (Drew) Gilbert. Will’s not somebody that calls any attention to himself other than when he’s got the ball in his hand. And I think he likes it that way…I feel like when Will is healthy, he’s going to be a pretty good back end of the bullpen guy. I don’t think he’s a starter. I think he goes out as a starter, but I think he’s a shutdown reliever.
