A long line of Stottlemyre’s to make their name at Fenway Park continues.
T.J. Stottlemyre, son of two-time World Series champion Todd Stottlemyre and grandson of multi-time All-Star and World Series winner Mel Stottlemyre, is up next.
And, just like his family before him, T.J. earned his way there, using a big performance at the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series National Combine in Nashville to get an invite to man the middle infield for the White Team at the upcoming Main Event.
Set for September 29-October 1, this will certainly not be T.J. Stottlemyre’s first trip to a big-league park, but he’s very much so looking forward to actually playing in Boston.
“I am most excited about seeing the green monster and hitting on the field with a ton of history and historic players,” he said.

A five-foot-ten, 160-pound shortstop and second baseman, Stottlemyre was seen at multiple Regional Combines out in Arizona, earning an invite to Shelby Park for the chance to compete to go to Fenway. He did that and then some, impressing the scouting staff with a frame that can produce more power than it would have appeared and surprising speed, drawing rave reviews as a “hard nosed, alert player.”
“The Future Stars experience has been great so far, just meeting some outstanding players and coaches,” he said.
Stottlemyre says he’s been working on increasing his strength and developing his tools even further since his trip to Nashville, relying on various coaches to improve his stock. A Rice University commit, he’s eager to show the big-league scouts and executives in attendance that he has what it takes to continue his incredible family history at the game’s highest level.
“I am looking to show them my skills and how I have improved as a player since the last combine,” he said.
