Now 6-foot-6 and 210 pounds, the Vanderbilt commit provides a unique look on the mound, and even furthermore as a southpaw. A premium arm considered to be the top Draft eligible player out of Rhode Island, Alex Clemmey would be an interesting high-ceiling pick for a club in the first few rounds.
FSS Event History: Clemmey shined at the 2020 Boston Super Regional, showing still-developing stuff on the mound back back in October of that year. He drew the highest grades for his fastball, as well as his command, working in the zone during the majority of his outing.
Current Ranking in Joe Doyle’s FSS Plus Top 600: 61
Joe Doyle on Alex Clemmey:
Large and lanky lefty with a swing and miss fastball and low 80s breaking ball. Sits low 90s, but has reached back for 98 in side bullpen sessions. Very projectable frame, spins his whole arsenal very well. Length and violence in delivery causes some reliever concerns, but there’s immense upside with the body and arm talent that is highly valuable from the left side.
