A Chicago native with a strong commitment to Louisville, Zion Rose provides a very unique profile behind the plate, and is one of the top amateur catchers in the country, bar none. Well-decorated on the travel ball circuit, Rose figures to make a big impact at whatever his next stop may be.

FSS Event History: Rose was the type of talent that drew amateur scouts to FSS events, and he participated in many of them, including the 2022 Pre-Draft Combine, Main Event and Caribbean Classic. Rose didn’t disappoint on the biggest stage either, delivering two run-scoring hits at Fenway, as well as another at Dunkin’ Donuts Park in Hartford as part of a huge Main Event showing before continuing on as the leader of the vocal “Goon Squad” in the Dominican.
Current Ranking in Joe Doyle’s FSS Plus Top 600: 169
Joe Doyle on Rose:
Zion Rose has a chance to be one of the better players in the class; a unicorn of sorts in terms of his toolset behind the plate. He possesses an above average arm behind the plate and strong wrists and hands to manipulate the barrel offensively. He’s also an above average runner. There’s plenty of bat speed here and, so long as Rose doesn’t outgrow his athleticism and ability to stay behind the plate, the clay is pretty unique here.
