FSS EVENT SCHEDULE | FSS STAFF | FAQ
Sebastian Walcott, SS — Texas Rangers
Walcott is just 19 years old and will remain so for the entirety of the 2025 season, having performed admirably in Double-A Frisco from the outset. He enters play this week batting .247/.349/.395 with eight home runs and 18 stolen bases. Notably, the Texas League is a pitcher-friendly circuit.
Walcott showed out in front of our staff in the Bahamas as a 16-year-old two-way player. Loud tools is right.
Owen Caissie, OF — Chicago Cubs
Caissie boasts a .263/.372/.504 slash with 12 homers in 65 games this season. He’ll be 23 in a few weeks and is knocking on the door of the majors as a corner bat with plus or better power.
The Cubs acquired Caissie in the trade that landed Yu Darvish and Victor Caratini in San Diego. He was a second-round pick in 2020 and came to Future Stars Series in 2019.
C.J. Kayfus, 1B/OF — Cleveland Guardians
Kayfus has done nothing but hit since the Guardians made him their third-round pick two years ago. He’s worked his way through the minors as a hit-first corner bat with average power and a chance to produce above-average on-base marks.
Kayfus played in our 17U Nationals in 2019, drawing a strong set of big-league grades across the board. He’s batting .319/.414/.574 for the season, all but 18 games coming in Triple-A.
Slade Caldwell, OF — Arizona Diamondbacks
Caldwell, a first-round pick last summer, garnered big-time grades from the Future Stars Series staff for hitting, running, fielding, and, well, that’s baseball.
The left-handed hitting Caldwell has already been promoted to High-A after dominating Single-A. For the year, he has a .267/.437/.403 slash with 19 stolen bases and a 20% walk rate.
The Valley View High School (Ark.) product starred in our 2023 National Combine and 2024 Showdown.
Jonah Tong, RHP — New York Mets
Tong, an Ontario and Georgia Premier alum, has been nearly unhittable in 2025, posting a 40.5% strikeout rate and 57% ground ball mark, allowing just two homers in 73 innings in 2025.
Tong offers mid-90s velocity from a deceptive, high slot, setting up a plus curveball and changeup, and a slider that flashes.
Konnor Griffin, SS/OF — Pittsburgh Pirates
Griffin starred in our 2021 National Tournament at the plate and on the mound. He’s a bat now, but one with a shot to play up the middle where his bat could make him a star.
After a torrid start in Single-A, Griffin was promoted to High-A Greensboro where he hasn’t skipped a beat (.358/.457/.567, 3 HR, 11 SB).
Griffin is one of the fastest rising talents in the minors.
Braden Montgomery, OF — Chicago White Sox
Montgomery was a two-way star in high school, then turned into an elite position prospect at Texas A&M last spring. It’s a full tool box, including a huge arm that fits anywhere on the field, athleticism, and a chance to switch hit with impact from both sides.
He was traded from Boston to the White Sox in the Garrett Crochet trade prior to the season, then earned a quick promotion to High-A after just 18 games in the Carolina League. He’s posted a .274/.352/.468 slas,h which includes 22 extra-base hits and nine stolen bases.
Montgomery showed out at our National Combine and International Week events in 2020, touching 93 mph from the mound and decorating a scouting report with tremendous beauty as a position player.
JR Ritchie, RHP — Atlanta Braves
Ritchie was the Braves’ CB-A selection in 2022, and he’s returned from UCL surgery as if he’s trying to make up for lost time — and it’s working.
The right-hander has reached Double-A this season, showing above-average stuff and some glimpses of his best, pre-surgery velocity.
The Future Stars Series staff saw a lot of plus tools from the athletic Ritchie back in 2019.
