2020 MLB Draft: Zac Veen, Colorado Rockies, 9th Overall Pick

June 11, 2020

The Colorado Rockies selected Scorpions Baseball and National Team alum Zac Veen with the ninth overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft.  Veen is the fourth first rounder in the history of the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series — he joins Daniel Espino, Noah Naylor and Grayson Rodriguez — and is now the highest draft pick in FSS history.

Veen starred on the Scorpions team in the 2019 national tournament, and made waves with a huge performance for the National Team at this year’s International Week event, hitting only the second home run in the three-year history of the games.

QUICK SCOUTING REPORT FROM CEO JEREMY BOOTH: Zac is a high ceiling bat with impact skills and clubhouse changing makeup. He’s someone who will make players around him better. Always hunting for a game and looking for ways to get better. The work ethic is only surpassed by his character, and The Rockies got a good one.
