FSS alums Kranzler, Casoliba help throw Vanderbilt’s fifth no-hitter since 2019

February 19, 2026

While the 2026 college baseball season is still very young, it didn’t take long at all for two alums of the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series to make a quick impact. Adria Casoliba and Alex Kranzler (pictured) were among the seven Commodores arms to throw a combined no-hitter on Wednesday night at Hawkins Field, previous host to numerous FSS selection events.

Starter Connor Hamilton, Brennan Seiber, Nate Schlote, Nate Teague and Tristan Bristow as well as Casoliba and Kranzler all put their efforts together to shut down Eastern Michigan in the run-rule shortened seven-inning game, which they won, 16-2.

Casoliba, who we first saw at a Georgia Premier Scout Day in 2023, was an unforgettable, electric arm at Globe Life Field in 2024 in that year’s Main Event, getting his fastball up to 96 miles per hour over the course of his highly-anticipated outing. Now a 6-foot-3, 219-pound freshman righty, that outing marked Casoliba’s NCAA debut, and he put together a 1-2-3 fourth inning, racking up his first collegiate strikeout over a frame that needed just ten pitches to complete.

Kranzler, meanwhile, is a 2026 MLB Draft-eligible junior who has been excellent out of Vandy’s bullpen over his first two years with the program. A two-way player in his travel ball days, the New Jersey native was a rare two-time invitee to the Main Event, and became the first ever pitcher to go nine up, nine down at the event when he pulled off the feat in 2021 at Citi Field. He subsequently returned and performed well on both sides of the ball one year later at Fenway Park before wrapping up his well-decorated stay with the Future Stars Series with a trip to the 2022 Caribbean Classic.

On Wednesday, Kranzler helped preserve the no-no with a spotless sixth inning, striking out two while retiring all three batters he faced.
