Program 15 National Events: What They’re Saying (Travis McDougall, Abbotsford Cardinals/Sandlot BC)

June 18, 2017

As part of a weekly series of stories leading up to the Program 15 New Balance Future Stars Series upcoming national events in Houston, FutureStarsSeries.com spoke with Travis McDougall, pitcher for the Abbotsford Cardinals and Corey Eckstein’s Sandlot BC program.

“I think it’s going to be awesome being able to showcase my stuff in front of a lot of scouts and a lot better competition to see how well I’ll do against top prospects.  I think it’ll be very good.”

Please check out Program 15 and New Balance Future Stars Series VP of Scouting Butch Baccala’s thoughts on McDougall: Travis McDougall is everything you’re looking for in a potential future starting pitcher. Tremendous frame, longer legs than torso, young face, sloping shoulders with long arms. Arm was clean and at present shows you at times a now average Major League curveball that is top to bottom not side to side. Velocity is in 86-88 range and easy to project more fastball just off his curveball. (I) see a potential 89-93 guy with a CB and CH with a delivery that should be a 180-200 inning delivery every year. Liked his quiet mound demeanor, shouldn’t be a high anxiety guy.”
