The New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series is pleased to announce the initial group set to participate in the inaugural JUCO Pre-Draft Combine, set for June 17-18 at Mass General Brigham Center for Sports Performance and Research and Delta Dental Diamond at Centennial Field in Burlington, Vermont, the home of the Futures Collegiate Baseball League’s Vermont Lake Monsters.
The event is part of a partnership with the NJCAA, in which Future Stars Series will serve as the Official Baseball and Softball Player Personnel, Development and Predictive Analytics Partner of the NJCAA, supporting all three NJCAA divisions (Division I, II, and III) across both baseball and softball. The partnership will introduce a unified platform focused on player evaluation, infrastructure, and data-driven development tools, while expanding student-athlete access to and from NJCAA institutions, connecting them to the broader collegiate and professional baseball ecosystem.
Top JUCO players from across the country will gather and show off their skills with a chance to elevate their Draft profiles and command interest from college programs, and while rosters are subject to change and registration is still available to invited players, the initial roster of attending players is a strong mix of some of the top NJCAA talent in the country that also includes players with FSS experience.
Brayden Smith, Taylor “TJ” Sunderhaus, Roman Trinidad, TJ Stottlemyre and Robbie Demetree should all be familiar names to those who’ve followed the FSS for a while, with each having signature event experience.
Smith, an athletic outfielder at Skyline College, advanced to the Main Event in its first year at Globe Life Field in 2024 after several years in the FSS pipeline, including a memorable appearance at the 2022 Fresh 50. He hit .424 and stole 17 bases with Skyline in 42 games this season.
Trinidad, a New Mexico Junior College outfielder, starred at the 2023 Main Event and 2024 Future Stars Series Showdown. He hit .404 with 13 homers and 54 RBI in 54 games this year, drawing 31 walks compared to just 49 strikeouts.
Stottlemyre, a 2023 Main Event and 2024 FSS Showdown standout who is at San Jacinto College, put together a strong sophomore year, posting a .902 OPS in 51 contests.
Demetree, another 2023 Main Event and 2024 FSS Showdown star, is at Florida Southwestern after transferring from UCF, and hit .323 with 12 homers and 46 RBI in 48 games.
Sunderhaus, now at Georgia Highlands, was also a 2024 Main Event alum and hit .280 in 22 games during his college season. He graded out well at Globe Life, luaded for a strong, athletic build and fast twitch actions.
The two-day event will feature testing for those who opted into CSPAR on the 17th — located at Patriot Place in Foxborough, Massachusetts, CSPAR utilizes advanced biomechanics, motion analysis, force plate technology, metabolic testing, cognitive performance evaluation, and recovery science to help athletes optimize performance and reduce injury risk; the facility serves athletes of all levels from high school and collegiate competitors to professional and Olympic athletes — and a full day of baseball activities on the 18th in Vermont in front of FSS scouting staff and invited MLB clubs. Additionally, a full social media rollout is anticipated from the Vermont on-field action.
