Future Stars Series Alum Zac Veen set for MLB debut

Colorado Rockies’ prospect Zac Veen stands to make his MLB debut at Coors Field on Tuesday versus the Milwaukee Brewers. Per MLB.com, he was informed of the call-up after he suited up for Triple-A Albuquerque Sunday.

Nothing certain in regards to whether or not he will start the game, but right-hander Freddy Peralta is slated to start for Milwaukee.

Veen, 23, was Colorado’s first-round pick in the 2020 MLB Draft, No. 9 overall, out of Spruce Creek High School in Port Orange, Fla.

He stood out early and often as a high school player, including at our 2019 Nationals and International Week when the Future Stars Series scouting staff saw the potential for an all-star future.

Veen, a left-handed hitter with plenty of defensive tools, has always shown an advanced approach at the plate with power to all fields. He’s fought through some injuries, but when he’s been healthy, he has always produced.
