2018 MLB Draft Scouting Report With VIDEO: Mateo Gil 95th Overall, St. Louis Cardinals

June 5, 2018

Mateo Gil was taken 95th overall by the St. Louis Cardinals, and is a proud alum of the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series and Program 15.

Gil participated in the International Week event in Sugar Land, Texas, and Program 15 VP of scouting Butch Baccala provided the following report on Gil.

“My opinion is you sign them before they're really good. Mateo Gil, if he gets to TCU, in my opinion will be a Top 10 pick in three years. So, if you can get him today between the third or fifth and still get him to sign, that's a coup for you. He's a got a chance to be an outstanding major-league player.”
