A later invite to the 2026 New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series Main Event through a workout in Houston that also saw fellow Co-Best Pitcher winner Reid Traeger stand out, Dominic Giammeta III created a lot of anticipation for what he might do in Minnesota based on that July showing.
He certainly didn’t let anyone down.
Giammeta got the start for the Columbia Blue squad for Game 3 at Target Field and fired three mostly dominant frames to stand out on a day that was loaded with top arms. The big Oklahoma commit led all pitchers with a highest fastball velo of 95.1 MPH and dazzled with his ability to mix that fastball with a vast array of offspeed offerings. A legitimate two-way threat at 6-foot-2 and 230 pounds as a RF/1B, “Trey” is one of quite a few Main Event standouts who will be very much so worth keeping an eye on as the 2027 MLB Draft draws ever closer.
