I’m not one to say I know a lot about a player if I truly don’t.
I didn’t know much about Caleb Allen prior to this summer.
I sure do now.
After an impressive showing on both sides of the ball this July at the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series 2028 grads Underclass Combine, Allen was one of the names to watch at the Underclass Premier heading into the event. All he ended up doing was winning MVP; Allen comes from what’s essentially become a prospect factory in Georgia Premier Academy, and we first saw him at our Scout Day with them in May.
Our scouts liked everything they saw — including an outing on the mound for the SS/RHP — and saw Allen as a “projectable baseball player that is athletic,” with a “frame (that) has plenty of room to add strength and muscle; with that physical maturity will come improved tools and polish.” There’s a lot of athleticism here and the thought that he can stick in the middle of the diamond long-term given that, so he’ll be someone to continue to keep an eye on as he continues his development both physically and as a ballplayer.
