ONTARIO, CANADA – The New Balance Future Stars Series Canadian Scout League enters 2027 with a more focused structure and a return to the original vision for what the league was intended to be.

2026 exposed challenges in technology deployment, logistics, league size, talent levels and the participation of multiple teams from individual organizations.

Those lessons have been learned. In 2027, the league will operate differently.

“The purpose has always been simple: identify the right players, evaluate them properly and give them the best opportunity to advance,” said Jeremy Booth, CEO and President of Baseball Operations of the New Balance Future Stars Series. “We know the formula works. In 2027, we are going back to the structure that allows us to execute it.”

The biggest change begins with participation.

Each organization will now be limited to one team per age level. Period.

FSS will also retain final approval over participating players when necessary to ensure the talent level and competitive environment meet the league’s standards.

There are other places for teams and players whose needs fall outside that model. The New Balance Future Stars Series Canadian Scout League does not need to be everything for everybody. It needs to do what it was built to do—while offering exclusive opportunities that others don’t.

“We aren’t interested in being the biggest league,” Booth said. “We’re interested in creating the right environment with the right organizations, the right players and the right technology. We plan on adhering to the age-old adage of quality over quantity.”

The 2027 league will serve players ages 13 through 17/18 and operate at no more than four designated data sites. League technology and evaluation resources will be reserved specifically for Canadian Scout League participants.

Those involved, both teams and players, need to understand they’ve been identified as able to compete one day in one of the higher levels of the sport. FSS expects everyone to adhere to the character, talent, work ethic that makes FSS stand out in the industry and accomplishes those goals.

The schedule will target approximately 24 games, with the potential for 28-32 depending on weather, followed by a conference championship tournament and All-Star Game in August. Jeremy Booth also plans to attend at least five spring weekends and both August weekends leading into FSS signature events.

The exclusive technological advantage the NBFSS Canadian Scout League offers will continue to be in place. Comprehensive charting, auditing, tagging, leaderboards and social media coverage will support player evaluation and exposure throughout the season. FSS will own the league’s data and use it to evaluate and promote players throughout its network of Major League Baseball organizations and college programs.

For Booth, 2027 isn’t about repairing the 2026 model. It’s about building the league the way it was supposed to be built in the first place.

“We learned exactly what we needed to learn,” Booth said. “Some things worked. Some things clearly didn’t. We’re not going to repeat those mistakes just because that’s the way things were done last year.

“This league has a purpose. We know what works, we know what the standard needs to be, and we’re going to protect that standard. 2027 is about getting back to what this was supposed to be from day one.”

Additional details regarding participating organizations, league sites and the 2027 schedule will be announced in the coming days.
