Minjae Seo headlines new names added to Future Stars Series Showdown rosters

January 11, 2024

On the heels of the original roster and schedule announcements for the upcoming inaugural New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series Showdown, set for January 19-21 at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, several new players have been named to the FSS team’s roster.

That announcement was also made by FSS president and CEO Jeremy Booth on X, formerly Twitter.

Added are catchers Lawson Ward and Jacob Hauk, pitchers Trent Collier, Michael Devenney and Minjae Seo as well as outfielder Jaden Gummersbach (pictured).

Only Gummersbach has past experience at FSS signature events, having played in the most recent Main Event, where he reached base twice in six plate appearances.

Ward is a 2024 grad who is set to attend Arizona State University. The 6-foot-2, 195 pound backstop is a member of the Sticks, which have a long history of producing top talent that have starred at FSS events, most notably Tink Hence.

Hauk is also a 2024 grad class member, and committed to the University of Maryland. At 6-foot-3 and 225 pounds, he can also play first base, and will provide some versatility to the team while also seeing some time behind the plate.

Collier is a Texas-based 2024 LHP who plays for the Dallas Patriots. He’ll bring a fastball that sits between 88-91, and touches 92 miles per hour in his first signature event appearance.

Devenney is a Tulane commit who has been up to 90 as an RHP as recently as this fall, and still has projectability in a 6-foot-4, 185-pound frame.

Seo is a Texas-based 2025 RHP who is considered one of the top arms in that year’s draft class. Formerly committed to Vanderbilt, he flipped that commitment to Florida, and has already produced big showings on the amateur circuit that have attracted a lot of attention.
