The Los Angeles Angels took an aggressive approach this season, both at the deadline and the preceding weeks. Injuries have destroyed the Halos’ lineup the last few seasons, and GM Perry Miniasian has done his best to fill the gaps.
The price, however, was several young talents from the farm system, inclyuding Ky Bush and Edgar Quero in the trade with the Chicago White Sox to acquire Lucas Giolito and Reynaldo Lopez.
The Angels also spent prospect capital on Randal Grichuk, C.J. Cron, Eduardo Escobar, Dominic Leone, and Mike Moustakas. The farm wasn’t deep to begin with, and now sits even thinner with the prospect of losing ultrastar Shoehei Ohtani to free agency after the season.
