PROGRAM 15 Announces The Hanson Cossman Tournament As a Partner Event For the New Balance Future Stars Series

PROGRAM 15, the Official Global Grassroots Player Identification and Development Program for New Balance Baseball, announced The Hanson Cossman tournament has been added as one of the partner events for the New Balance Future Stars Series.

PROGRAM 15 is proud to announce The Hanson Cossman tournament has been added as one of the partner events for the New Balance Future Stars Series. PROGRAM 15 and Future Stars Series staff will attend and scout the Hanson Cossman tournament to write MLB scouting reports and select players for International Week, regional teams, and invite-only combines in the fall.

Led by PROGRAM 15’s National Staff of former Major League and professional players, scouts, and coaches, Future Stars Series Regional Training and Evaluation Combines have garnered a reputation as one of the most comprehensive amateur baseball player identification and development experiences available.

The Hanson Cossman Tournament began in 2013 to honor Grant Hanson, a Showtime founder and long-time respected coach, who lost his battle with Cancer, and Mat Cossman, a five-tool player, loyal, dedicated program kid who lost his life to a medical overdose shortly after pursuing his college career. Proceeds from this tournament go directly to families or organizations in our community that need assistance. 

The event will feature 24 highly-competitive teams from the Pacific Northwest, surrounding States (CA,OR,WA,ID MT) and Canada. Teams committed to play include: Showtime CP South, Showtime CP North, Chaffey Baseball, Abbotsford Cardinals (B.C.), White Rock Tritons (B.C.), Gunderson Baseball (OR), EnFuego, TC Saints, Idaho/Boise Cubs, NW Futures, Vancouver Mavericks, Linedrive Baseball, NW Star Academy,  Moundtime, BB Renegades, Zoots Baseball Club (Ca.),  River City Athletics,  Outlaw Baseball Club (MT),  Seattle Stars, Seattle Select,  Laces Baseball, Showtime CP (OR), Spokane Crew, and Taylor Baseball.

Games will be played at the newly upgraded Battle Ground High School facility, the University of Portland, Concordia University, and Clark College.

Amateur players identified by PROGRAM 15’s National Staff of former Major League and professional players, scouts and coaches are submitted to New Balance Baseball for advanced opportunities and potential selection to regional and national team rosters for New Balance sponsored events.

ABOUT THE HANSON COSSMAN TOURNAMENT:
The Showtime Hanson Cossman Memorial Tournament is an annual event that began in 2013 to honor Mat Cossman and Grant Hanson.

In June 2010, Mat Cossman, a gifted athlete, and longtime member of the Showtime ball club lost his life. Within days the club came together to put on a ballgame to help the grieving family with expenses. A scholarship fund for baseball athletes was started through the club in Mat’s name.

In 2012, Showtime Baseball Club lost Grant Hanson, a dedicated coach, to cancer. Coach Hanson donated a great deal of his time and talent to developing young men’s baseball skills.

Proceeds from this tournament go directly to families or organizations in our community that need assistance.
