Data Darlings: 2026 Underclass Elite, Hitters

Demetree, Pratt lead the way; Bankston 3 90+ exit velos

October 1, 2026

The oldest group from our Underclass weekend — the Fresh 50, Underclass Premier and Underclass Elite were all held over the course of three days this September at Mississippi State’s Dudy Noble Field — the incoming juniors are probably the most fun to take a look at when it comes to the data.

Our VP of Data & Player Analysis, Jason Churchill, combed through the raw info to piece together some leaderboards that were used to put this piece together. There’s a lot of talent in our 2028 grad group, and some familiar last names lead the way in our look at the way it all went down over three days down south.

Longest Distance — Mason Demetree (pictured), 366 feet

One of the younger brothers of FSS Main Event alumni Robbie Demetree — Robbie is now playing college ball at Tulane after stints at UCF and Florida SW — Mason Demetree found himself on top of the leaderboard for the furthest ball hit during the three games played, as again BP data is not included here. It came on the sequence you see below, where he sat on a fastball and sent it to the warning track in right center field, seeing it ultimately hop over the fence for a ground rule double.

Our scouts see Demetree following his older brother’s path and going the D1 route, and it would seem likely that he would be a strong candidate to be in the mix to get to the Main Event in 2027 as well.

Six players broke the 300-foot threshold here; Caden Krawietz (354), Nick Edwards, Jr. (349), Jett Pratt (340), Gunner Carpenter (322) and Mark Ogden (310) all made the list.

Highest Average Exit Velocity — Jett Pratt, 84.9 MPH

The eyes didn’t lie on Pratt, who was named MVP of the Underclass Elite. The data doesn’t either. Pratt’s 84.9 MPH average exit velocity paced the field among those who had a minimum of three batted balls, but he wasn’t alone in players who averaged over 80.

Josiah (Jayce) Woods, David Bankston, Demetree, Calan Platt and Ogden all crossed that milestone over three days of game action. In particular, Bankston had the highest individual exit speed off the beautiful Tucci lumber at 99.3 MPH and had three of the top eleven exit velos of the Underclass Elite portion of the weekend.
