The New Balance Future Stars Series Caribbean Classic gets underway January 16 in Puerto Rico, and the event’s return lasts four days, pitting rosters from numerous Latin American and Caribbean countries, as well as a full roster of U.S. players.

In the first iteration of the Classic in 2022, the likes of Cooper Pratt, Raudi Rodriguez, Boston Baro, Zion Rose, Tre Phelps, Luke McNeillie, and Alex Kranzler competed as high school standouts before moving on to pro ball or big-time college baseball.

For the next several weeks, let’s talk about some of this year’s participants.

Tommy Georgelos is a class of 2026 outfielder and left-handed hitter from Lyons Township High School in La Grange, Illinois. He competed in the Future Stars Series Main Event at Globe Life Field back in October and in our National Combine in July.

A year ago, he earned an invite to the 2024 Underclass Elite.

Georgelos first came to Future Stars Series in the summer of 2023, impressing scouts with his approach and swing.

The 5-foot-9, 170-pounder hits the fastball well, and showed he can stay back on softer stuff and find the barrel. He projects to above average in the field with above-average speed.

But the bat drives his future. With consistent timing thanks to a repeatable stride, short, line-drive swing, and advanced feel for the strike zone, Georgelos projects to make contact, hit for average, and find some doubles.

The Future Stars Series scouting staff raves about his mental approach and instincts, which should help his physical tools play up a bit.

Thomas is a line drive hitter that makes hard contact often and knows how to use the whole field in his approach. As a hitter he takes aggressive swings and drives balls. He knows how to use his lower 1/2 and his hands stay on plane thru the zone. — FSS Scouting Staff

At the Main Event at Globe Life Field in October, Georgelos again displayed impressive, consistent BP rounds and sound fundamentals across the board, notched a 42% hard-hit rate, and posted numerous exit velocities over 90 mph. He garnered ’60’ grades for his approach and barrel control.
