It’s time to highlight some performances from some of our alumni.
Every player noted below came through a Scout Day or Regional Combine and earned an invite to one or more of our Signature Events, including the Main Event, which has been hosted by Fenway Park and Globe Life Field the past two years.
Tre Phelps, OF — Georgia
Phelps went 7-for-13 in Georgia’s three games this past week, including a 4-for-5, 2 HR showing versus Binghamton. The 6-foot-2 draft-eligible sophomore ended the season with a .305/.402/.524 slash, including 14 doubles and 10 home runs.
Phelps played in several Future Stars Series events before landing at UGA, including our Underclass Combine in 2020 and 2021.
Phelps ranks No. 135 on Joe Doyle’s latest draft board, but has the choice of returning to Athens for another season.
Charles Davalan, LF — Arkansas
Davalan has reached base by hit or walk in 12 straight games, with hits in 11 of them. He and the Razorbacks won the Fayetteville Regional and advanced to the Super Regionals this week.
Davalan impressed our staff at multiple FSS events in 2022 and 2023, garnering the following report from our scouting staff:
The left-handed hitter boasts a .350/.434/.573 line with 13 homers, and he’s not done yet. Davalan ranks No. 42 on Doyle’s most recent MLB Draft board.
Luke Hill, IF — Ole Miss
Hill hits. Entering play Monday, he was seven for his last 17 with three doubles and a home run to raise his season totals to .335/.460/.490 with 19 extra-base hits.
Hill came through our partner 15U Championships and Scout Days, but quickly earned a spot in our Nationals and Underclass Combine in 2020. Our scouts saw a future 55-grade hit tool with a chance at plus power back then, and here we are.
Hill ranks No. 106 on Doyle’s draft board.
Alex Kranzler, RHP — Vanderbilt
The sophomore, eligible for the 2026 MLB Draft, was used in relief this season by the Commodores, but flashed and was particularly good in a four-inning stint at Wright State over the weekend. Kranzler fanned five and yielded an unearned run while issuing just one walk. He posted a 40-7 K/BB ratio in 2025.
The 6-foot-3 and 224-pound right-hander drew big-time projections from our scouting staff at our national events, including a future plus fastball with movement.
He sat 92-95 this season (93.3 average) and generated huge whiff rates with his low-80s slider (51%).
Jaden Barfield, LHP — Oklahoma
Barfield is a freshman and picked up steam as the season progressed. He started the year in the Sooners’ bullpen, but ended with two effective starts where he allowed but one earned run over eight combined innings. In those starts (vs. Kentucky and North Carolina in the Regional) struck out six and walked three.
The southpaw sat 90-93 mph this season, and his slider teased as a swing-and-miss pitch. Well, he’s got that going full bore now.
Barfield is an alum of our 2023 Main Event (Fenway Park) and 2024 Showdown (Globe Life Field). He finished his first year in Norman with a 3.54 ERA in 15 appearances, including 18 strikeouts in 20.1 innings. The future looks bright for Barfield at OU.
Slade Caldwell, CF — Arizona Diamondbacks (A)
Caldwell hasn’t topped hitting, and no one should bet on that happening anytime soon. He just posted his 13th multi-hit game of the season and owns a .311/.469/.486 slash with 18 extra-base hits and 10 stolen bases.
Caldwell has been stirring our scouting staff for nearly three years now. He’s a 2024 Showdown alum.
Erian Rodriguez, RHP — Chicago Cubs (A+)
The projectable, 6-foot-3, 190-pound Rodriguez came to Future Stars Series via the Nashville Pro Combine in 2020 and earned an invite to our Main Event (International Week), touching 92 mph and drawing rave reviews across the board.
The Cubs took in Round 13, and it’s paying off. Rodriguez, 23, worked his way back from the IL, is developing his secondaries, and reaching the mid-90s with his fastball. In his most recent outing, Rodriguez punched out five in five frames, giving up just one run on four hits. He did not walk a batter.
