The 2025 New Balance Future Stars Series Main Event was more than a month ago, but the echoes of two swings are still ringing loud.
Cole Prosek and Easton Autrey went yard on the final day of the event at Globe Life Field on October 5, essentially stealing the show — which was nearly impossible to do with all the standouts on the mound and at the plate.
Prosek, a 2B/3B from Magnolia Heights High School in Mississippi, is headed to Oxford next fall to don the Blue and Crimson for head coach Mike Bianco and the Ole Miss Rebels. On his way, he’s leaving his mark.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Prosek first showed up on the Future Stars Series radar in the spring of 2024. He then impressed at the National Tournament that summer, drawing above-average or better scouting grades across the board. He then impressed in the Underclass Elite last fall.
But 2025 has been even better for the infielder. At the Future Stars Series National Combine in July, Prosek showed why he’s one of the better prep bats in the country.
The NBFSS scouting staff opined, “Offensively, he is not intimidated by anyone. He takes the same aggressive, short swings off of RHPs as well as LHPs. He uses the entire field to hit, has a short, fluid swing that impacts the ball, has bat speed, and then when he gets on base, he is not afraid to run.” His data matched the reports.
Prosek, however, wasn’t done, not by a long shot. At the Main Event last month, he averaged over 91 mph exit velocity and maxed out at nearly 103 mph. The FSS scouts couldn’t say enough good things about him, assigning a 60 grade to his future hit tool, as well as his baserunning, barrel control, and approach, with average or better grades for his glove and arm.
The result that stood out the most is the long hall he hit off one of the better arms in the class, in right-hander Landon Brown.
With one out in the third inning on the final day of the event, Prosek worked the count to 2-2, then got a 94 mph fastball middle-away and torched it, 380 feet at 102.9 mph for a laser beam home run over the wall in right-center, above the Arrow Exterminators sign and into the home bullpen.
It wasn’t his lone highlight of the weekend, but it was the loudest and served as a show-stealer, with so many high-level arms, including Brown, grabbing the spotlight up to that point.
Prosek will show up on MLB Draft boards this coming spring, but could also work his way up those rankings while at Ole Miss. Future Stars Series CEO & Director of Baseball Operations Jeremy Booth likens Prosek to former two-time All-Star Jason Kipnis.
Autrey, however, wasn’t about to take a back seat. In the bottom of the same inning, Autrey took a letter-high, 1-0 fastball from fellow southpaw RJ Cope and crushed it to right field, nearly 400 feet away, 10 rows into the stands.
“He has a great baseball mind, strong hitting acumen, and the approach to be a big leaguer.” — FSS Scouting Staff on Easton Autrey
Autrey is a 3B/1B from Corsicana High School in Texas, and he’s planning to stay close to home to play ball in Austin for the Texas Longhorns.
The ceiling is high for Autrey, who garners a Jason Giambi comp from Booth, thanks to elite bat speed that often registered in the 70-73 mph range in the Main Event — and beyond in a few instances. For context, the average bat speed in MLB in 2025 was 71.7 mph.
The NBFSS scouting staff tossed a 75 grade on Autrey’s raw power and a future 70 in terms of game production. But it’s not all about hitting home runs. He earned a 55 future hit tool with “run producer” and “middle of the order” tags in his report.
