The New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series is set to return to the Dominican Republic for an International Combine on March 4-5 at Complejo Deportivo Naranjo.
This will be a mostly new group of players for us to take a look at on this trip, but there are some notable returners as well, which we’ll spotlight below, who we know to keep an eye on next week.
Gerlin Miliano (Naranja)
This will be our third look at Miliano after seeing the 14-year-old outfielder in August and October. A six-foot, 165-pounder out of Premium Academy, Miliano has a pretty no-nonsense righty stroke at the plate, which he used to produce at the plate in game action when we saw him, notably delivering an RBI single in August. He is a 2028-eligible sign.
Rodelin Evangelista (Azul)
We saw Evangelista at our World Combine in December, where the 14-year-old outfielder out of Ray Academy handled himself well. He’s something of a work in progress at this point, with our scouts noting he’s got a lot of work to do to get on the professional baseball radar, but they did note his easy hands through the zone and his ability to make the routine plays in the outfield when he saw him in Orlando.
Jinovilis Jeremis (Azul)
Jeremis is another player we’ll get a third look at next week, with previous FSS appearances in October and again at the World Combine in December. A switch-hitting infielder who doesn’t turn 15 until May, it’s a bit of a slighter frame here — he’s listed at five-foot-eleven and 150 pounds — but he’s used it well with us in the past, getting on base with a line drive through the left side in our International Combine. Jeremis ran a 7.15 60 in Orlando, and earned a comp to a young Edgar Renteria from our scouts at that event; with his report in part reading…”Defensively he has good hands, soft feet, and good glove actions…the arm is easy, near average now and above average to plus in the future…as a switch hitter, he showed some hard contact from both side, an easy swing with quick, loose hands, and really kept his head pretty still throughout the swing.”
Gendry Vicente (Azul)
Vicente is an FSS veteran at this point, with his appearance on the roster in March set to be his fourth time playing for us since August. His most memorable look was likely that first one, where the 2026-27 class eligible-sign catcher did well to cover a lot of the zone with the bat to produce some singles at the plate, and also threw out multiple runners. Our most recent eyes on him came at the World Combine, where he ran a 7.28 60 and our scouts had him profiling as a “valuable backup catcher with defensive impact and value,” while noting “the bat needs to come around more with this guy to be a real prospect.”
Luis Nunez (Amarillo)
A 14-year-old infielder out of Catala, this is our first look at Nunez since December’s World Combine. Although it was a mostly quiet event for him over a small sample size, he was one of the more intriguing players there thanks to slick actions at shortstop and the ability to swing it well from both sides of the plate. Our scouts preferred the 7.25 60 runner from the left side at the plate, and said that while “young, I believe as strength comes on, and the more games he plays, he will be a SS for somebody, and be in the lineup everyday.”
