OBJ star David Calabrese was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the third round with the 82nd overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft on Thursday night.
The Canadian-born outfielder blew scouts away with his speed at the 2019 national tournament, and did more of the same as a standout for the World Team at International Week later that year, hitting the first-ever inside-the-park home run in the three-year history of the event.
QUICK SCOUTING REPORT FROM CEO JEREMY BOOTH:
True CF with plenty of bat. Reminds of Jacoby Ellsbury. He’s their leadoff hitter in a few years and can help create runs multiple ways. Excellent makeup kid who loves to compete.
