HOUSTON – The New Balance Future Stars Series powered by Program 15 wrapped up a historic combine season in Houston, Texas which saw a record number of amateur baseball players from across the country compete in front of Major League Baseball and college scouts.
Over 1,000 players participated in the annual showcase which generated an estimated $5 million economic impact to the Houston area over the three-week event.
“Coming back to Houston for our national tournaments and combines turned out to be one of the best decisions we’ve ever made,” said Jeremy Booth, President and CEO of the New Balance Future Stars Series. “The facilities, the people and the talent all made for an incredible three weeks of baseball further cementing how important the city is to our overall mission and future of the organization.”
The tournament and combines attracted players and families not only from the United States, but also from Canada and Puerto Rico. The three weeks featured athletes from the 2026, 2027, 2028, 2029 and 2030 graduating classes and saw 3 baseball clubs take home national championships.
In addition to the 1,000 players that participated in the on-field action, their coaches and families also took advantage of what the city had to offer as those that visited stayed in local hotels, took in attractions and frequented the large number of world-class restaurants the city has to offer.
“Not only do we want to have a place where we can play good baseball, but we also want to bring our families to cities that we’re proud of and Houston is certainly that,” said Booth. “Southeast Texas is a hotbed for baseball and to see our members enjoy Houston just as much as we do was definitely a highlight.”
The games and combines were held at several facilities and schools in Houston and the surrounding area. San Jacinto Junior College hosted the national combines and championship brackets for the 2026 and 2027 classes while Baytown ISD, Episcopal High School and Houston Christian University were home to the rest of the action.
“It’s fun getting to see these guys play at a high level,” said Eric Weaver, head coach of the San Jac baseball program. “This is something you don’t see every weekend so it’s nice to see high caliber baseball and bring the best teams and talent in the country right here to San Jac. I can’t thank Jeremy Booth and his staff enough to give us the opportunity to host it.”
The national combines provide an opportunity for NBFSS staff and scouts to see the best players in person and then determine who will advance and compete in the series’ signature events in September and October, including the Main Event and Underclass Elite showcase which will be attended by hundreds of scouts looking for the next big star.
