In the first iteration of the Classic in 2022, the likes of Cooper Pratt, Raudi Rodriguez, Boston Baro, Zion Rose, Tre Phelps, Luke McNeillie, and Alex Kranzler competed as high school standouts before moving on to pro ball or big-time college baseball.
Thus far, we’ve dug into the following players from this year’s U.S. Roster:
- Jax Van Valkenburg, C/1B
- Tommy Georgelos, OF
- Brody Crane, RHP
- John “JT” Reyna, RHP
- Logan D’Amico, RHP/OF
- Mike Teasley, RHP/OF
Right-hander Bradley Anderson from P27 Baseball Academy (S.C.) has opened eyes in a very short period of time at Future Stars Series.
He impressed at the Main Event in October, sitting 89-93 mph with life on the fastball to both sides of the plate. It showed cutting action, too.
Anderson’s breaking ball is a 76-78 mph curveball with good spin rates (2517 AVG RPM). He generated a 45% swinging strike over the weekend.
FSS scouts lauded Anderson’s curveball as a potential plus or better pitch:
CB is plus and has a chance to be top tier. FB is plenty for now and with added body maturity and strength should be more than enough.
But the whole package impressed, including a quick arm, sturdy build, and feel for pitching. He can throw the curveball for strikes or bury it for whiffs, and his fastball generates some swing-and-miss, too.
Anderson is 6-foot-1 and 170 pounds, suggesting room for strength as he fills out physically.
May be draft ready by next summer, and if not is going to make a college coach a genius. Loose, quick arm. All the elements are here. Excellent profile. — FSS Scouting Staff
