Dylan Crews Continues Torrid Pace In Advance Of 2023 MLB Draft

March 27, 2023

The thought was that once SEC play got underway, surely Dylan Crews would see his video game-type numbers come back down to Earth.

So. About that.

The star LSU junior went 8-for-13 in a three-game series against Arkansas and homered in each contest, giving him nine longballs in a year in which he’s poised to potentially go first overall in the upcoming 2023 MLB Draft. The 2019 International Week alum is now hitting .531, leading all qualifying NCAA batters, and is tied for sixth in the nation with 43 hits, just one behind his teammate in that event, Georgia Tech’s Jake DeLeo.

Porter Brown is thriving at Texas, as the former TCU standout is making the most of his redshirt junior year. He snapped a three-game streak of multi-hit games in a win over Texas Tech on Sunday, but still reached base on two walks. The 2017 International Week star went 8-for-11 with five runs scored over those three games, including two homers and eight RBI.

Recently named the Big South Freshman of the Week, Chandler Tuupo has made a name for himself at Charleston Southern, showing the same kind of power that won him the championship belt at the first-ever home run derby prior to the Future Stars Series national tournaments in Lake Charles. Tuupo delivered a two-homer game against Asheville, scored six runs and drove in eight to win the honors last week, helping his team to a clean 5-0 record along the way.

Roc Riggio is raking. The Oklahoma State sophomore has smacked three home runs in a five day stretch, including two homers in their win this past Wednesday over Wichita State. After an impressive display in his freshman year with 11 home runs, Riggio already has eight this season in his first 25 games, and is on pace to shatter his NCAA career-high.

Long Beach State standout Eddie Saldivar continues a strong sophomore season. The 2020 International Week alum has now homered in back-to-back games after delivering five hits in all in his team’s sweep over UC Riverside this past weekend, and is now hitting .306 on the season. The slick-fielding infielder has recorded six multi-hit games already this season, including tying a season-high with three on Sunday.
