In the first iteration of the Classic in 2022, the likes of Cooper PrattRaudi RodriguezBoston BaroZion RoseTre PhelpsLuke McNeillie, and Alex Kranzler competed as high school standouts before moving on to pro ball or big-time college baseball.

Thus far, we’ve dug into the following players from this year’s U.S. Roster:

Madden Tatum is a 6-foot-4, 190-pound right-handed hitter and center fielder from Valley View High School in Arkansas, the same high school as 2024 first-round pick Slade Caldwell.

The left-handed swinging Tatum impressed FSS scouts over the summer with his athleticism, projectable frame, and solid rounds of BP.

On the mound, Tatum stood out, touching 91 mph and generating good spin on his mid-70s curveball. The delivery is clean, and his arm action “worked easy.”

“College coaches dream… He threw plenty of strikes and that will keep in him the lineup…Much upside here and will be a good follow for down the line.”
– FSS Scouting Staff

Tatum reached 2500 rpm on his curveball at the Main Event at Globe Life Field, and he mixed in a few changeups with some sink. His fastball has shown improved shape since the summer.
Tatum is committed to Jax State for the fall, where he’ll work with new pitching coach Ryan Kramer.
