The Colorado Rockies selected Scorpions Baseball and National Team alum Zac Veen with the ninth overall pick in the 2020 MLB Draft. Â Veen is the fourth first rounder in the history of the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series — he joins Daniel Espino, Noah Naylor and Grayson Rodriguez — and is now the highest draft pick in FSS history.
Veen starred on the Scorpions team in the 2019 national tournament, and made waves with a huge performance for the National Team at this year’s International Week event, hitting only the second home run in the three-year history of the games.
QUICK SCOUTING REPORT FROM CEO JEREMY BOOTH: Zac is a high ceiling bat with impact skills and clubhouse changing makeup. He’s someone who will make players around him better. Always hunting for a game and looking for ways to get better. The work ethic is only surpassed by his character, and The Rockies got a good one.
