In the first iteration of the Classic in 2022, the likes of Cooper PrattRaudi RodriguezBoston BaroZion RoseTre PhelpsLuke McNeillie, and Alex Kranzler competed as high school standouts before advancing to professional baseball or major college ball.

Thus far, we’ve dug into the following players from this year’s U.S. Roster:

It was the summer of 2022 when Future Stars Series scouts got their first look at just-turned 15-year-old John Cade Zeigler. It was the National Championships, and Zeigler impressed on the mound and in the batter’s box.

Moves around well, first-step quickness and instincts … Aggressive, smooth swing and let’s hands work… explosive bat speed.

Zeigler continued to work and showed up at numerous additional FSS events, including the Main Event at Globe Life Field.

He’s a physical, 6-foot-4, 240-pound corner defender, touching 89-90 mph on the mound with solid control and a projectable breaking ball, and power projection at the plate.

There’s power to chase thanks to bat speed generated by unique raw strength, and with some adjustments he’ll produce more loft and turn raw power into production.

In the field, he’s a solid athlete, particularly for his size, and may be a fit in right field, which could increase his overall value, rather than sliding across the infield to first base.

Zeigler is committed to Louisiana Monroe, where he’ll play for new head coach Ford Pemberton.
