2023 Future Stars Series Main Event player profile: Christopher Patterson

September 27, 2023

Christopher Patterson didn’t have to go too far for one of his most recent appearances at a New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series signature event.

This time, however, will be different.

We’re pretty sure he won’t mind.

A standout from last year’s Underclass Elite in Frisco, Texas, Patterson, a Frisco native, is headed to Boston this time to suit up for the Orange Team at the Main Event, set for September 29-October 1.

Even with the short trip last year, Patterson said he “had the time of my life” at the event, and has overall “loved” his experience with the Future Stars Series. That continued with his appearance at the most recent Dallas Regional Combine in May, as well as his performance at the National Combine in Nashville in July, which earned him an invite to Fenway.

With added strength over the last year to go along with a line-drive approach, Patterson has taken what he learned this summer at Shelby Park to develop into a more complete player.

“Since Tennessee, I have been working on my arm strength and my barrel path through the zone,” he said. “This has been allowing me to generate power to all fields, and make stronger throws across the diamond.”

Likely set for his usual shortstop position this coming weekend, Patterson knows that playing on this stage will be a little bit different, but also knows that it won’t be too big for him with all the work he’s put in to get there.

“Just knowing all the big-time players that have been able to play there, I am very excited that I will be playing on the same grounds that they were on,” he said. “During the event, I’m looking to showcase all assets of my game; My pop in the bat, arm across the diamond, and speed on the basepaths.”
