Snelling Selection Gives Future Stars Series Five First Round Picks; Ten Overall Selections On First Day Of 2022 MLB Draft

July 17, 2022

It was a banner night for the New Balance Baseball Future Stars Series, with ten alumni being selected on the first day of the 2022 MLB Draft, including a now record-breaking five in the first round after the San Diego Padres selected Robby Snelling with the 39th overall pick in Competitive Balance Round A.

After that, five more players who all have extensive experience in the FSS came off the board, starting with International Week and National Combine star Jacob Miller going to the Miami Marlins at 46. Main Event teammates then went back-to-back ten picks later, with Henry Bolte heading to the Oakland Athletics with the 56th overall pick and fellow Citi Field standout Cole Phillips being taken by the Atlanta Braves at 57.

But the news wasn’t done just yet; the Tampa Bay Rays found excellent value with Brock Jones heading their way with the 65th overall selection, followed by Tucker Toman being picked by the Toronto Blue Jays at 77th overall rounding out a memorable night for the Future Stars Series.

With two days remaining in the Draft, records for alumni drafted in a single year are likely to be shattered, and FutureStarsSeries.com will continue to update as players come off the board in the next 18 rounds of the selection process on Monday and Tuesday.

Below, you can find up to date historical information on all Future Stars Series alums who’ve been taken in the MLB Draft.
